Orange Democratic Movement party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna continued to receive a faire share of attacks from a team allied to DP William Ruto, following his persistent criticism on the Jubilee party deputy leader.
After the loss in Ugenya and Embakasi South, with a subsequent pullout of ODM candidate from Wajir West by-election race, Sifuna's office has faced hard times given his role in the party.
DP's aide Emmanuel Talam on Wednesday wondered why Mr Sifuna continued to hold his position, claiming that he is a big letdown to Mr Odinga.
"So even after the Ugenya, Embakasi and Wajir waterloo Sifuna still works for ODM? Maajabu! Someone must save baba.@OleItumbi @EtalePhilip @edwinsifuna," he argued.
While both ODM and Jubilee maintains that the Orange party withdrew from Wajir West by-election following high level consultations, the former candidate, Prof Yusuf Elmi, says he moved out voluntarily.
In his response, Sifuna wondered why Ruto's team wants him to pull out as Secretary General, adding that Dr Ruto 'failed to influence Jubilee party internal elections'
"Ruto did not even get to pick the SG of Jubilee. He definitely will not pick the SG of @TheODMparty," said Sifuna, a former Nairobi Senatorial aspirant, who lost to Johnson Sakaja.
ODM lost in Ugenya and Embakasi South constituencies by-elections, a move that came as a shock. The party has since vowed to review their approach and make adjustments ahead of 2022 elections.
