Referendum calls have been slowly but surely gaining momentum over the recent months as more leaders continue to endorse the referendum calls.
One of the leaders who has joined the team that is agitating for the referendum is Senate deputy speaker and Tharaka Nithi Senator Prof Kithure Kindiki.
Speaking during a visit of Karocho Ruungu Irrigation scheme, the senator said he will support referendum calls that will address two issues.
First, the constitution should be changed to reduce the amount of money lost at the National and country government through corrupt leaders.
"Funds meant to build hospitals, buy medicines, build roads are getting lost, we have to change constitutional to make it difficult for people to steal public money, " the senator said.
In addition, the senator said despite the fact that some money has been stolen at the county level, devolution has also heard its share of good as far as development is concerned and therefore, he will support constitutional change that will increase the amount to funds allocated to counties.
"I will support the change that requires money sent to counties to be increased...We must move the allocation of money to county governments from 15% to 30%" he added.
The however cautioned leaders should the proposed increment be made official, they should use the money for development and not for their own pockets.
