The facility will sit on a four acre piece of land.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, the chief guest Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago said once the project is complete, it will serve customers not only in Uasin Gishu and Kenya, but also the entire East African region.

“The investment that Toyota Kenya is putting in this project is Sh450 million and it is expected to be completed in the next twelve months,” said the governor after the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mandago reiterated that the project will employ hundreds if not thousands of jobless youths.

“On completion, it’s going to create direct employment opportunities for between 50-60 people and indirect employment for close to one thousand people. As a county, we welcome the project and will support Toyota Kenya to ensure its success,” Mandago said.

Toyota Kenya Chairman Dennis Awori said they decided to have the project in Eldoret because of its conducive environment for doing business.

He noted that the facility will be used for selling and servicing Toyota and other brands, motor industry, fully fledged fertilizer distribution center, pharmaceutical and medical equipment’s just to name but a few.
