After watching Gor Mahia qualify for the second round of CAF Champions league, and lose to Kariobangi Sharks in Super cup and Bandari with the same margin of 2 - 1 while on the bench, the probation period is over.
And now the Turkish coach Hassan Oktay will officially take charge of Gor Mahia as a head coach starting this Wednesday when the KPL champions face Zoo Kericho in a KPL midweek fixture.
This comes after Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed the appointment of the tactician having earlier dismissed news that Oktay had been contracted by the club.
“We have appointed Hassan Oktay as the head coach of the team and he will take over from Dylan Kerr. In addition, Zedekiah Otieno will assist him," said Rachier.
The coach has now penned down a two-year contract with an option to renew.
Oktay, a Cypriot Turkish origin has been with the team for a week and will take charge from Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno. He has a UEFA ‘A’ License coach. In addition, he has handled clubs in England, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.
K'Ogalo faithful will hope that the Turkish will soon fill the gap left by Briton Dylan Kerr, by returning the team back to the winning ways after an awful start to the new season.
Dylan ditched Gor and later went on to sign for South Africa's PSL side Black Leopards.
