Kanjama observes that Mukhtar who survived an attempted assassination is getting better.

Kanjama says that though the former CEC is still in ICU, there is a great improvement and the family hopes and prays for his recovery soon.

"Idriss is getting better day by day and we ask Kenyans to continue praying for him and his family," Kanjama told journalists at Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday.

The lawyer at the same expressed Mukhtar's family's gratitude for the financial support and prayers a section of Garissa leaders and other Kenyans have rendered.

The family is grateful to all those who continue to stand with Idriss in prayers and through the financial support," he said.

The city-based lawyer said that the family was getting worried over rising medical bills at the Nairobi hospital but everything has been sorted out through the help they (family) have been getting.

Mukhtar survived an attempted assassination on August 18 in Nairobi's Kileleshwa area.

The former CEC was shot several times on the head and is admitted in hospital.

Investigations into the attempted murder are still going on with two suspects already arraigned and charged in court.

Detectives say they are still hunting down more suspects linked to the attempted murder.

On Sunday, Garissa leaders led by MP Aden Duale  fund-raised over Sh21 Million for Mukhtar's medical fund.
