Narok South Member of Parliament Korei Ole Lemein has urged politicians outside Narok County - a reference to Rift Valley politicians- to desist from making inflammatory statements which he says could stir social unrest.
Speaking on Friday flanked by other Narok County leaders, Korei Ole Lemein warned that some of the statements being made by politicians had the potential of triggering conflict.
"People who are outside this county even as my colleagues are still saying the same thing, we really want to request you to restrain from making statements that can lead to, you know, people unrest," the Narok South MP urged.
The government order for over 60,000 families living in the forest to vacate has attracted strong opposition from a section of Rift Valley leaders.
Emotions have been running high over Mau with politicians trading strong words over the important water catchment area.
In a strongly-worded statement read out in Parliament buildings, Nandi senator Samson Cherargei said that leaders were ready to take a bullet to defend their people.
Senator Cherargei disparaged the evictions, saying that they could lead to gross human rights violations.
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi asked the settlers to stay put until an acceptable solution is found, urging the government to set aside money to resettle them.
