Speaking on Wednesday in Sekenani, Nakuru West Constituency, and Ruto said that the project, which was unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta is viable. This is after Kenyans criticized the President for launching a railway line to nowhere. Ruto said that Uhuru is not the first to face such criticisms for unveiling the project. He argued that even the British faced backlash after they unveiled the Meter Gauge Railway."I have heard some people say the rail launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Suswa was a 'railway to nowhere'. Is Narok not Kenya?" Ruto asked, as quoted by Standard."Even the Queen of England was criticized when she launched the old railway by people who called it the 'lunatic express', because to them it was built in the Dark Continent."

Kenyans have been launching endless attacks on the head of state after he launched the second phase of the project. Uhuru said that the railroad will lead to Malaba border town.

The president also said that he has plans to extend the railroad beyond Suswa. He affirmed that he will not listen to naysayers of his projects until he completes his second term in office.
