Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has issued a stern warning to politicians with intentions to politicise the upcoming Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting to be held in the port city of Mombasa.
Speaking at the historic Tononoka Grounds on Thursday, Kingi said that politics would not be allowed in the meeting.
He urged those with intentions to engage in politicking to look for another meeting to do so.
The governor said that the majority of the speakers would be those from the coast so that they can air what they want to be captured in the BBI.
"So we want to say that the people of the Coast should be given the opportunity to articulate their own issues that they want to be captured in the BBI. Those with the intentions of politicising the meeting should know that that will not be the opportunity to do so, they should look for their meeting. (Kwa hivyo tunataka wapwani wapatiwe nafasi ya kuzungumzia maswala yao ambayo wanataka yaingizwe katika BBI. Wale ambao wanataka kuleta siasa tunataka tuwaambie sasa kwamba hiyo siyo nafasi, watafute mkutano wao), the Kilifi County boss said.
That stand was also taken by other county bosses from the coast who spoke to the members of the press at the Tononoka Grounds.
The warning comes in the wake of a press conference by Deputy President Dr William Ruto's allies who said they will attend the Mombasa meeting.
The Tononoka Grounds meeting will be the third meeting of its kind coming after the Kisii and Kakamega BBI meetings.
