As political wrangles continue to rock Ukambani region, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is the latest to join the fray.
This is after a period of sustained accusations and counter-accusations between Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama.
While telling off Kalonzo and Muthama over their latest political spat, Dr Mutua claimed that the duo's time in politics is up and that he is ready to "liberate" the community by going for president seat in the 2022 general election.
According to the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader, Kalonzo's recent statement declaring that he will support President Uhuru Kenyatta's political camp in 2022 is a confirmation that he has surrendered and cannot secure the votes of Kenyans.
"The community is not for the wager to the highest bidder. The comments by Hon. Kalonzo, the leader I hold in high esteem, that he will follow the 2022 direction given by President Uhuru Kenyatta, can only mean that he has resigned himself to the fate that he is not capable of securing the vote of Kenyans to be the next President and can only be a supporter of another person," Dr Mutua said in a statement on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The county boss was also quick to hit out at Muthama for what he claimed was trying to "mortgage" the Kamba community to Deputy President William Ruto.
