Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene now claims that the arrest and prosecution of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu is a plot to kick her out of office.
Kamene said the corruption allegations against the Deputy Chief Justice are allegedly well planned to humiliate her and force her out.
Speaking to journalists at the Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Wiper legislature claimed that some forces are not happy with Mwilu being in office.
“The corruption charges against DCJ Mwilu are nothing put a plot of forcing her out of office,” Kamene said.
The MP hit out at the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) accusing them of allegedly overstepping their mandate.
She said if indeed Mwilu committed the alleged crimes, she should be investigated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Kamene said Mwilu has served in the judiciary for decades, adding that she is innocent.
Mwilu was arrested on Tuesday over allegations of corruption, tax evasion and abuse of office.
The DCJ is out on Sh5 million bond.
On Wednesday, the High court issued orders stopping her prosecution until October 9, 2018.
