Residents of Bosongo location in Kisii County were treated to drama on Wednesday evening after two co-wives clashed over their husband.
Elvinah Monyangi and Beatrice Kemunto engaged in a physical fight over their husband Justine Omari Ongera.
According to area chief Mr Ayienda Mokaya, the fight ensued after Mongangi, the first wife, accused Kemunto of using love portion on their husband.
"Monyangi has been complaining that her husband has neglected her after she gave birth two months ago because he spends most of his time with Kemunto. Efforts by elders to talk to the man and his two wives have not borne fruits since Ongera has not stepped in Monyangi's house despite the two wives living in the same compound," said Ayienda.
The administrator said Monyangi left her two-month-old baby in the house and stormed Kemunto's house where she clobbered her.
"Residents had to rush to the homestead to separate the two from fighting since the husband was not at home. Kemunto sustained injuries on her face and was taken to Nyangena Hospital for treatment," he stated.
The chief urged the husband who is a mechanic at Daraja Mbili market to be responsible and ensure that he satisfies his two wives.
He also advised co-wives to tolerate each other, noting that unnecessary fights won't help in solving their problems.
