A section of Kisumu residents did not receive well Deputy President William Ruto's sentiments accusing opposition leader Raila Odinga of shortchanging him during the 2008 grand coalition government politics.
The DP noted that he was left in limbo after Raila became the Prime Minister while Musalia Mudavadi became his deputy.
Here are some of the reactions from residents:
“Ruto should stop blaming baba for his own political mistakes. All Baba did was to shelf his own political ambitions to save the country from burning and Ruto is trying to tell us that the decision he made was wrong. He should be very careful with what he says,” noted Alfred Odhiambo.
Others noted that Ruto was selfish and had other hidden agenda besides supporting Raila.
“The Deputy is a selfish individual whose intention is to benefit from other people. Raila was sharp from the word go, and he knew that Ruto would not be trusted and for that reason he never supported him. Ruto wanted to use Raila to gain the presidency and he never wanted Raila to lead but just a strategy,” stated Greg Obura.
“Why does he claim to be righteous yet he was the first one to betray the ODM family. Why did he not stick around if he really was supporting Raila and help him become the president in 2013. All he did was seek fame from Raila and used it against NASA. He should stop spreading rumors that actually Raila dropped him and focus on what lays ahead of him,” said Hilllary Otieno.
“That is politics. There is always no one loyal in Kenyan politics. It is dirty, messy and full of tomfoolery by the politicians. Ruto complaining does not make any difference either to him or Raila. He should simply focus on what is ahead of him in 2022,” stated Martin Wafula.
“In politics, no one ties you to one person. You have liberty to choose the decisions that fit you the most and if that involves cutting off some individuals the better. Raila did what he had to do to survive, “Said Tacy Onyango.
