Lungalunga Member of Parliament Khatib Mwashetani has urged political leaders to stop dividing the people of Kwale along tribal lines.
During the 55th Jamhuri Day celebrations, the Jubilee Party lawmaker asked elected politicians to focus on development matters that will benefit locals.
"Leaders should desist from misleading and dividing the people of Kwale along tribal lines and instead focus on bringing development to the grassroots," Mwashetani said on Wednesday.
The celebrations were led by Governor Salim Mvurya in Lunga Lunga Sub-county at the County level.
Mwashetani also urged the security organs in Lungalunga to go slow on youth who depend on the bodaboda business to make a living.
On his part, Mvurya said: "Peace, love and unity are the core values that we should endeavour to foster as Kenyans. As we celebrate Jamuhuri Day let us embrace diversity in society for prosperity of our country and county."
