40-year-old David Chelule who returned from the Kamiti Maximum Prison recently reportedly killed his 2-year-old son, claiming that he is not his biological son.

Chelule is said to have committed the crime while his wife was away at their home in Kaptololwo village on Wednesday.

He was saved by the police from angry neighbours who wanted to lynch him.

The incident was confirmed by Sotik Sub County Police Commander Francis Ng'ang'a who said that neighbours were alerted by one of them who stumbled the body of the boy.

The police boss added that a probe has been launched into the matter, with neighbours saying that the matter has bene involved in constant arguments with his wife of 10 years.

"He has frequently quarrelled his wife accusing her of infidelity. We did not know the differences over the child will degenerate into such an incident,” a neighbour told the Standard.

The angry neighbours wanted him to be given to them for instant justice.

“He deserves ‘instant justice’ for taking away the life of an innocent child over his difference with his wife,” said Robert Korir, a neighbour.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Kapkatet Hospital Mortuary.
