A 32-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly beating his step-mother to death in Kithyoko, Masinga sub-county, Machakos county.
Confirming the incident, Kithyoko sub location chief Daniel Muthoka said that the man attacked his stepmother while she was at the shamba.
Chief Muthoka said that the man attacked the woman with big sticks and stones until she died.
"The man had two big sticks and stones which she used to beat the old woman who collapsed and died," said Muthoka.
He further narrated that the man fled and locked himself at home after committing the act.
"He had worn safari boots so we followed the blood trail and his footsteps and found him at home where he had locked himself."
The man is said to have been released from prison in 2017 after being locked up for malicious damage of property.
The man is currently held at Kithyoko Ap post awaiting arraignment in court today.
The body of the woman was taken to Matuu Mediance mortuary as police commence investigations.
