The Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomem has been dismissed after he filed an appeal for his clients Aisha Jumwa and Suleiman Dori on 5th February 2019 against the ODM party's decision to expel defiant MPs.
"My clients Hon.Aisha Jumwa & Hon. Suleiman Dori have appealed against the decision of ODM NEC to expel them from the party. In line with the ODM Constitution, we look forward to the day we shall appear before the Party’s Governing Council," Murkomen wrote in a statement shared on Twitter.
On Wednesday 6th February 2019, ODM party responded to Murkomen's appeal against the decision to expel Aisha Jumwa and Suleiman Dori.
The party dismissed the Senator's appeal noting that there exist no mechanisms to enable the appeal of the decision of the ODM national executive committee to the National Governing Council.
"The section quoted in your letter on "appeal to NGC" does not exist in the ODM Party constitution," read a section of the letter.
The letter which was signed by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna advised Senator Kipchumba and his clients to familiarize themselves with the ODM constitution to avoid such misinterpretations.
"We strongly suggest that you and your clients take time to familiarize yourself with the constitution and rules governing the Orange Democratic Movement to save yourself from such ignorant misapprehension in future," read part of the letter which was shared on Twitter.
The Party held that the matter was being handled internally and they were therefore not willing or ready to involve a third party.
