Kisii County Governor James Ongwae and his Deputy Joash Maangi have been trolled after a photo of them playing football at Gusii Stadium donned in suits went viral.
Some residents ridiculed the two leaders asking why they did not take time to pick sporting gear than playing football with donned in their ceremonial official attire.
A section of the locals hypothesized that the two county leaders might have been "bewitched" to play football while dressed in suits.
“Ongwae and his deputy were bewitched. How can they play football in their official suits? They should have bought game skirts to wear when playing football,” said Job Okeyo, a Kisii resident.
Titus Momanyi, another resident claimed that Ongwae and Maangi should be blamed for the poor performance of Shabana Fc.
“We now know why Shabana Fc has been performing poorly. Maangi and Ongwae are a bad omen to the county’s football team since they decided to play football at the same field where Shabana Fc trains while in their official suits. We can’t blame Shabana Fc players,” he said.
Moses Obutu called elected leaders to lead by example and ensure the county excels in sports.
Obutu said leaders should spare time to practice in the field and play with football players as a sign of motivation to upcoming sportsmen and women.
