Some of them may not be familiar to the public but they play fundamental roles in government through policy formulation and advising the president on political matters.

Muhoho Kenyatta: Besides helping to run the larger business of President Uhuru Kenyatta's family, Muhoho plays a key role of helping the president make major political decisions.

It is believed that he played part in brokering the deal between his brother and opposition leader Raila Odinga in March this year.

Philip Kameru: The former soldier in the Kenya Defense Forces is in charge of NIS, which gives the president daily intelligence briefs. He's also the man behind major appointments in government especially security department.

Joseph Kinyua: Head of Civil Service and a technocrat who helps in formulation of key government policies

Justin Muturi: The Speaker of the National Assembly and the forth powerful man in pecking order is a trusted general of the president.

In parliament, Muturi helps the president control the critical arm of government with the controversial passing of Finance Bill 2018 showing his loyalty to the president.

Fred Matiang'i: The man trusted in Interior Ministry which controls security sector is not a stranger in government.

In all the ministries he has headed, the president has used his as an example of success. He enjoys the ears of the president and most of the time, he's consulted on government policy due to his background from academic world.

Kinuthia Mbugua: The former AP commandant and Nakuru governor controls the president's diary by the virtue of being State House comptroller.

His experience both in security and government helps the president to make day today decisions for smooth running.

Nzioka Waita: Poached from Safaricom PLC, Nzioka, besides being Chief of Staff, is also the head of Presidential Delivery Unit.

In fact, he's said to have been the man behind evacuation of PSCU directors among them Dennis Itumbi. He's said to have accused them of failing the presidency through reckless communication. The team of bloggers no longer works from State House.

Njee Muturi: The former Solicitor General was a one time Private Assistant of the president. He's now Nzioka's deputy and runs State House on a daily basis.
