Mr. Gichana was released after pleading guilty to money laundering and fraud charges and had to deposit Sh15 million as fine on top of five years sentence.

At Nairobi, Mr. Bosco met Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi along with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei for a private meeting with details remaining scanty.

While Sudi is an in-law to Mr. Gichana, the fact that Cherargei was present and the secrecy behind it, has caused jitters among ODM loyalists who feel that Raila Odinga should take credit in Bosco's release.

"You will hear them now saying that Ruto secured his release. We all know how Raila helped and those Jubilee bloggers should know as well," said J. Cord Frank, an ODM blogger.

Another blogger Olivia Moraira added: "We spent tireless nights in Arusha and Raila's contributions were impeccable."

In 2007 polls, Bosco financed Raila's campaigns but five years later, he was perceived to be more allied to Ruto's wing after losing ODM ticket in Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat.

A homecoming ceremony that will cover both Nyamira and Kisii Counties will be held later on this month.

Political pundit Gideon Mamboleo says Bosco's release could be a game changer in Gusii politics.

"He is quite popular and you'd see Ruto and Raila claiming credit on his release. He is still a force who can move masses in the larger Gusii."
