Buoyed by a section of MCAs, the speaker accused scribes covering proceedings of portraying the assembly in bad light, adding that the habit will not be 'tolerated'.

"It is worrying that they are working hard to portray the assembly in bad light. No positive report has ever come out of them," he said.

Bomwagamo MCA Charles Barongo added: "They either concentrate on positives or go to hell. This habit is sickening."

Other MCAs who condemned 'biased' coverage include nominated MCA George Mosiori and Gesima's Charles Barongo.

But reporters from the county have hit back, accusing the leaders of running away from public scrutiny.

According to them, the animosity was precipitated by wide coverage on alleged fraud in procurement of Sh379 million new assembly block which is subject to ongoing EACC probe.

"We shall not succumb to schemes to muzzle freedom of press. Such acts will be met with formidable resistance for the benefit of people," read a statement by Nyamira Media Organisation.
