President Uhuru Kenyatta took many residents by surprise when he decided to walk in the streets of Mombasa town.

President Uhuru who was accompanied by Coast leaders in January 2016, took a walk in areas including Old Town and beaches to inspect street lighting project.

During his walk in Old Town a matatu stopped next to his motorcade and the President took time to talk to the passengers of the matatu.

A mother was at the front seat of the matatu with her baby and the driver of the matatu handed over the baby to the President.

The baby however started crying when President Uhuru tried to hold him. The President was forced to hand the baby back to his mother.

The President continued with his tour while interacting with Mombasa residents along the streets.

The Government had launched the project to install street lights to curb insecurity and President Uhuru was visiting Mombasa to see the progress of the project.
