West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi has said that the prime minister position should be occupied by someone from the Gusii region.
Kemosi made the remarks in reference to Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking during an event at the constituency on Sunday, the MP declared support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, arguing that it means good for the common mwananchi.
The lawmaker asked residents in the constituency to read the BBI report in full, and promised them to avail copies of the report.
"I'm requesting our leaders not to politicise the BBI report... The PM docket should be taken by a Kisii," Kemosi said as quoted by Egesa FM.
"The BBI report was released and I'm urging our people to go through it. I will also bring those books so that you can read it on your own in order to give your views. I have read the report and it is good. Only some areas need to be polished so that we can push it to pass," he added.
A section of leaders from the Gusii region have endorsed CS Matiang'i to vie for the presidency in the upcoming 2022 polls.
However, Matiang'i is yet to declare interest in the seat and has remained mum on his 2022 plans.
