Prince Harry has spoken for the public since dramatically announcing that he and his wife Meghan Markle were stepping back from their royal duties, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported.
In a televised address, Prince Harry expressed sadness at having to take the decision to step back.
He revealed that he had explored the possibility of continuing to serve without public funding nut it had proven impossible.
“I know that you’ve come to know me well enough over all these years to trust that the woman I chose as my wife upholds the same values as I do. And she does,” he said as quoted by the Guardian newspaper.
“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly … there really was no other option. I have accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life," he added.
The prince also took a hit at the media, which he described as a powerful force and has accused in the past of making his life and that of his wife difficult.
Harry's speech came hardly a day after media reports indicated that the couple would drop their Royal Highness titles.
