Joyciline Jepkosgey proved too good as she powered to victory in the 12th edition of the Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon.
The world half marathon record holder crossed the line after 1:11:01 to pocket Sh250,000 prize money for the 21 kilometers race.
"I'm happy to have won today. To compete on a regular basis is not an easy thing," said Jepkosgey.
"Next year i am planing to do a full marathon," she added.
2014 Commonwealth Games marathon champion Flomena Cheyech finished second while Antonina Kwambai was third.
Cheyech said she was using the race to prepare for the upcoming marathon.
"I always run a half marathon whenever I am going for the marathon. In Novermber I will be participating in the Shangai Marathon," she said.
In the men race, little known Kelvin Cheruiyot Kiptum upset former Africa champion Mathew Kisorio to register his maiden win in a major competition.
Kisorio who finished second said he used the Eldoret Half Marathon as preparations for the upcoming Valencia Marathon.
"I'll be targeting to improve on my Personal Best at Valencia," Kisorio told journalists.
Winners went home with Sh250,000 in each category with first and second runners-up receiving Sh150,000 and 100,000 respectively.
Part of the funds collected from this year's Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon will go to supporting education for children with autism at the Sosiani primary school in Eldoret town.
