Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s silence following his handshake with opposition leader Raila Odinga could be the cause of alleged rifts in Jubilee Party.
Speaking on Monday during the burial of his brother, Bernard Ndung'u, Ngunjiri said Uhuru’s silence about the future of Jubilee Party could affect the Party negatively.
He said that Uhuru as the Party leader should call for a meeting with all Jubilee members and explain his pact with Raila.
Ngunjiri said President Uhuru should explain why Jubilee members should work with Raila to avoid speculation of his intentions.
“Call us and tell us what has changed with Raila and why we should work with him. We don’t want to be part of a pact that is dividing the country,” said the MP as quoted by standard.
President Kenyatta and his rival Raila had agreed to work together on March 9, 2018, after a lengthy meeting that resulted in an agreement on pertinent issues that needed to be addressed.
The two leaders decided to put their political differences aside and vowed to work together to unite and grow the country.
