Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has revealed how Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has allegedly given her a loophole to serve her full term without a by-election.
Speaking at Mbuzi Wengi in Malindi, Saturday, the vocal MP said that ODM did not follow the laid down law, which rules out any possibility of a by-election.
“If rules and regulations had been followed I would probably have relinquished my seat,” Jumwa said.
Jumwa was warmly received by her supporters at Malindi International Airport and matched to Mbuzi Wengi for her first major rally after being dismissed from ODM. She urged Malindi constituents to stop worrying about a by-election and continue with their daily routine.
Meanwhile, a section of her supporters are begging ODM to change their decision considering the sacrifice Jumwa has made for the party.
“We had Shella ward by-election that was followed by Malindi by-election after area MP Dan Kazungu was appointed Mining Cabinet Secretary. The looming by-election will scare away tourists and hurt our economy,” Rehema Ali said.
