Uasin Gishu residents have been warned against information going round on the social media that Kenya National Bureau of statistics is employing 2019 census officials.
According to the Uasin Gishu Statistical officer Munene Riungu the information is false and is being circulated by conmen wanting to siphon money from desperate and innocent Kenyans.
“We have received information that there is information going on the social media that we have started the recruitment of the 2019 census the information is false and residents should not fall into that trap,” Riungu said.
He noted that the information is not related to the Kenya National Bureau of statistics.
Ruingu spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Monday.
“We have not even started the plans for the recruitment and urge Uasin Gishu resident to be on the watch out of such people whose aim is to steal their money,” he added.
He further said Uasin Gishu residents have been paying registration fee sh 350 for them to apply for the vacancies.
Ruingu, however, said the Kenya National Bureau of statistics does not charge even a single cent and applicants are taken on merit.
He called on residents to report such individuals and promised to take stern actions against them.
