A 35-year-old man left a village at Kericho in a somber mood after his strike that left double tragedy.
The man, name withheld, is said to have ambushed his estranged wife in maize plantation armed with a machete.
He slashed her several times and left her for the dead.
He then sprinted home and took poison which killed him as neighbours rushed him to hospital.
“My brother had separated with his first wife before marrying another woman. In addition to accusations of infidelity, he was a disturbed man and loved alcohol,” his brother said.
The wife is admitted at the Molo sub-county hospital where she is nursing deep cuts.
Residents described the man as an alcoholic who loved the bottle making him have marital problems.
