Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has been lauded for opening an immigration office in Kisii town.
While addressing Kisii MCAs on Tuesday who have been on recess, the assembly's Speaker David Kombo praised Matiang’i for opening the immigration office.
He said that it will ease the process of acquiring a passport for those who seek to travel outside Kenya and within Kisii and its environs.
Kombo noted that initially, people could travel all the way to Kisumu or Nairobi to get the passports.
“I extend my gratitude to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Fred Matiang’i for opening an immigration office in Kisii County and particularly in Kisii Town. Now you do not have to travel all the way to Kisumu or Nairobi to apply for passports. You will only do it here in Kisii County near the County commissioner’s office,” Kombo said.
This has been a relief to residents who could spend many days in Kisumu as they wait for the processing of the passports.
Some of those who have been through the process in Kisumu say it was not only time consuming but tedious as well.
