On Thursday, Odinga warned critics that he was not about to stop his calls over the referendum, adding that "we either join the calls or not'.

"It's only a fool who can oppose changes. We must embrace them and that's the way to go. We are going to have constitutional amendments and that is a must," he said.

Deputy President William Ruto had expressed his reservations about the referendum, insisting that it should not be about the creation of positions for election losers.

And Miguna Miguna, who was exiled to Canada, says Uhuru must implement the constitution fully before he lectures Kenyans about the changes.

"FIVE things @UKenyatta must do before talking about the referendum: (1) Full constitutional IMPLEMENTATION. (2) OPENING the @IEBCKenya servers. (3) OBEYING ALL COURT ORDERS. (4) REPATRIATING all looted public wealth. (5) JUSTICE for Kenyans he murdered and tortured," he wrote on Twitter.

While Uhuru has not openly backed the referendum, he has however insisted the need to have an all-inclusive system, which Raila Odinga has also backed before.

The referendum, Raila said, will be subjected to Kenyans by the end of this year as a preparation for 2022 polls.
