Leaders from Gusii region have defended Chief Justice David Maraga after lawyer Nelson Havi accused him of doing little to save embattled DCJ Philomena Mwilu.
Led by Steve Arika, they claimed that Maraga had nothing to do with DCJ Mwilu's arrest.
"Maraga's name should not be dragged into his deputy's arrest. Sometimes it's unnecessary to politicise graft war," he said.
The vocal politician urged Maraga to ignore critics and focus on streamlining operations at the Judiciary.
A Nyamira based politician Victor Swanya said Maraga didn't tell Mwilu to boycott paying taxes.
"Maraga could not stop DCI, EACC and the DPP from arresting DCJ Mwilu because the abused her office on her own.
"There was nothing Magara could do to stop Mwilu's arrest. Some lawyers should stop being lazy in their work when things backfires, we should accept and allow the law to take its course," he said.
Swanya said anyone who engages in corruption and boycotts paying taxes should carry his or her own cross.
