The Jubilee lawmaker called on locals to shun local politicians who are out spreading propaganda about his leadership.

"My opponents are lazy and idlers going around the constituency to spread propaganda about my leadership. Those questioning why I didn't oppose the 8 percent VAT on fuel must know the government needs money to run its operations," he said.

Tong'i noted that he was elected to serve the people and not listen to the lies being spread by the political losers.

"I am committed to transforming the lives of my constituents. Since opponents are unhappy with my leadership, I am urging them to relocate from the constituency and return in 2022," he said.

The legislator called Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to intervene.

"Matiang'i must not spare anyone telling lies to our people with an aim to remain politically relevant. Divisive politics is bad and will hinder development. It is time we must put the interests of our people first," he added.

He was speaking Kegati shopping center on Monday.
