After many youths, whose lives depended on boda boda industry employment, were threatened when NTSA brought about road reforms that would see many riders out of business, the Nyaribari Masaba Mp Ezekiel Machogu has salvaged the youths by promising to assist in training them as well as ensuring that they all obtain licences.
In a meeting conducted on Monday by the MP and the boda boda leadership in Nyaribari Masaba constituency, Machogu promised that his leadership will embark on a program to mainstream the boda boda operations in the constituency.
Turning to his Facebook account on Tuesday, the MP said that the boda boda industry in the constituency has a positive impact on the general economy of the constituency since it employs about 2,000 youths.
It's for that reason, he initiated a program of ensuring that they do not lose their jobs by failing to have the operational requirements as stated by NTSA
"My office has figures indicating less than 20% of the riders have formally trained and have driving licenses or meet the requirements to be on the road. With changes being introduced by NTSA, and to ensure our riders remain employable and in employment, my office has begun a program to assist them in training and obtaining of licenses." Machogu said in his post.
"The program is also aimed at improving the safety on the roads and reduce costs associated with our people," he added.
