A body of a woman who works at the county government of Nandi was on Wednesday found inside a hotel room in Eldoret town.
The woman who the police identified as Stella Jepkoech works in the Finance department of the county government.
According to Langas OCPD Wilson Abduba, the woman, 30, might have committed suicide.
Speaking to the press in his office, Abduba said Venus hotel management where the body was found had informed them that there was a customer who had checked into one of the hotel rooms but was not responding to knocks on his doors.
The hotel management had earlier called the number the woman left at the reception while booking the room but it was picked by her parents in Kapsabet who said they had reported that she was missing.
“The woman booked hotel room number 105 Tuesday at around 6.30 pm. She came with a car and parked at the hotel yard but in the morning, when hotel attendants knocked at her door there was no response prompting the management to call us,” the OCPD told the press.
“We broke the door and found the body on a bed. After searching the room we found a bottle with some sort of medicine. She had vomited on herself also. We suspect she committed suicide,” he added.
The body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town even as police launch investigations into the matter.
