Mrs Pauline Oyugi is set to take over  Trade and Tourism from Peter Muga, who moved to finance following resignation of Jackline Momanyi in October.

A source privy to the ongoing events in the governor's kitchen cabinet says the name will be forwarded to the Assembly for approval.

"He has already appointed her. She works at Kebirigo Tea Factory as unit manager. The name will be unveiled soonest.

"The information remains closely guarded due to the uproar it could cause from among residents," he said.

The appointee is sister-in-law to First Lady Naomi Nyagarama since her sister is married to Naomi's brother, Kiage Obutu.

Rumours about her impending appointment irked political tensions with a section of Kitutu Masaba residents reading mischief.

"This is outright discrimination. That in the cabinet, we have only one minister from Kitutu Masaba. Something must be done," said Kemera MCA George Morara.

Expectations were high that the governor could have appointed Ms Momanyi's replacement from Kitutu Masaba, in the county with two predominant clans, Abagetutu and Abagirango.
