A family in Nyali, Mombasa County is mourning the sudden death of their son.
David Stewart whose mother is a pastor at one of the churches in Changamwe was pronounced dead on Thursday at Premier Hospital
Reports indicate that the 21-year-old David left their Nyali home on Wednesday and went to Mkomani within Mombasa to hook up with one of his friends, Ranger.
The two then proceeded to meet another friend who was identified as Alex at Links Garden before they proceeded to the city centre, then to Mama Ngina Drive
Due to construction works going on at Mama Ngina Drive, they switched plans and headed to Casablanca Club along Moi Avenue within the city.
"They proceeded to Mama Ngina Drive, but they found that it was not accessible and so they decided to drive to Casablanca Club,” a police report reads.
Near the club’s gate, there was a police check and when the officers flagged them down, David sped off back to Nyali to his home.
After spending a few hours at Nyali, they left to Ranger’s home in Mkomani but this time around on foot. They spent the night partying at Ranger’s home until 3 am Thursday when David and Alex decided to leave to their respective homes
“Ranger called his friend who owns a car and asked him to drop the two, but the two could not meet the request to pay Sh500 for fuel,” read the police statement.
Reports indicate that after David arrived home, he picked his blanket and went to sleep outside their house.
It is his mother who found him that morning before they rushed him to the hospital where he was announced dead on arrival.
After the matter was reported to Nyali Police Station, an autopsy was conducted on Friday at Pandya Hospital which revealed he died after his left lung failed.
Police have launched investigations into the matter
