The arrival of Prophet Owuor at the venue of his crusade in Nairobi over the weekend left many in a state of shock.
He arrived in a convoy of state of the art vehicles and, what's more, armed officers were on stand-by to offer him protection.
Garissa residents, to whom we spoke, were quick to weigh in on the dramatic arrival.
Here is a sample of what they had to say:
''It's unfortunate that he can afford such opulence yet his followers are languishing in abject poverty,'' Suleiman Ahmed said.
''A person who is truly a man of God shouldn't be having so much security. I am disappointed,'' Abdi Suni said.
''I thought that the president of Kenya was coming to the rally only to be told that it was not the president but Prophet Owuor,'' Shakir Gule said.
''Kenyan preachers are a big disappointment. I am not surprised,'' Said Korane said.
''Followers should ask themselves important questions and not follow blindly,'' Shure Jaid said.
