Nyatike Member of Parliament Tom Odege has urged politicians opposed to the brewing referendum not to fear the proposed constitutional changes.
The referendum is facing full opposition from a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto who have termed it a plan to heap more burden on Kenyans.
But speaking on Radio NamLolwe on Friday evening, Odege said that there is no need for fear that the referendum will give birth to entirely new laws, resulting in confusion.
He said that the referendum only seeks to change the governance structure and a few other sections, and will not affect the entire constitution.
"The people who are worried and complaining should settle down because we are only going for a few clauses of the constitution and not the full thing," he said.
Odege added that the changes will be for the interest of the entire nation and not a few political elite ad Ruto and team have been claiming.
"The referendum will change the nation for the better. It's for the good of the nation and not a few people," added the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parliamentarian.
But Ruto's allies have been claiming that the changes being led by opposition leader and ODM boss Raila Odinga are aimed at landing him a slot in government after a series of losses in the presidential losses.
The changes also enjoy the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta and top opposition figures.
