The two deliberated on the status of devolution in the country and how to make it more effective.

"Held a meeting with Governor Anne Waiguru and agreed to “let by-gones be by-gones” and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators. She said her case against me is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on.

"We also reviewed the status of devolution in the country and agreed to exchange views frequently on how to address the challenges," Odinga posted on his Twitter handle.

A section of residents who spoke in an exclusive interview elicited mixed reactions about the meeting.

Joan Aoko a fish monger at Kondele noted that she was unhappy with the move.

"I understand that it is in the spirit of the handshake, but what happens to the NYS case. Baba's pressure could have helped catch the culprits, I don't know what will happen now," she opined.

Joseph Otieno a bodaboda operator welcomed the handshake terming it a good way of bringing Kenyans together.

"We are working towards reconciliation, the Raila-Waiguru handshake will help us achieve that," he said.

Okoth Odhiambo, a hawker at Kisumu said Raila had become unpredictable with his recent political moves.

Maureen Apiyo, a resident of Migosi noted that the handshakes were preparing Odinga for 2022 presidency.

"To be President, Odinga needs to be in good terms with anyone. I'm glad he has started doing exactly that," she stated.

Victoria Akumu noted that she was eagerly watching to see the final result of the handshakes and reconciliations.

"I don't know where this is heading but I'm eagerly watching," she said.
