Jama lost re-election to Ali Bunow Korane in the August 8, 2017, general election.

Since losing re-election, Jama has taken a low political life though there are claims he is planning for a come-back in 2022.

Jama was born and raised up in Garissa but studied in Scotland and United Kingdom before returning to the country.

Jama studied Islamic Finance law and banking.

He has over 30 years experience Islamic Finance Law.

Here is Jama's professional academic highest qualification.

Jama has a Masters Degree in International Trade from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.

He also has a Masters Degree in Islamic Banking Law from the University of Gloucestershire, Scotland.

The former Wiper Party governor also holds a certificate in Banking from the United Kingdom (UK) Institute of Bankers.

Jama is also a prolific writer and has published top journals and articles in Islamic Finance law and banking.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Jama can make a come-back in 2022 general election.

Ngure observes that he (Jama) lost re-election because of the clan politics in Garissa.

"Jama can take advantage of the controversies surrounding governor Ali Korane to stage a big comeback in 2022," he said.

Jama has remained silent on whether he will bid for the Garissa governor seat in 2022.
