The Secretary-General of the ruling Jubilee Party and a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta has been at crossroads with most Nyanza leaders, most of whom are allied to the opposition leader Raila Odinga.

On Saturday, he termed political hostility from area politicians and citizens as the reason why he has been unwilling to aid the region, including his Siaya home.

Tuju was speaking during the burial of his brother Kepha Tuju in Rarieda, Siaya County, as reported by the Standard.

However, he said that he is ready to channel resources towards the 4 Luo-speaking counties on a condition that politicians shun the 2022 debate and concentrate on service delivery.

He said that people should also stop linking him with the gubernatorial race, terming the same one of the reasons that have made him sit on the goodies.

He said that he is comfortable in his current government job.

The latter was the Rarieda lawmaker between 2002 and 2007, after which he fell out with Raila courtesy of his support for President Mwai Kibaki's re-election bid.

Raila was also eyeing the seat, rendering Tuju a traitor as he was expected by the majority to rally behind his villager Raila in his candidature.

He has remained on the opposite Raila, his side beating Raila 3 times in a row in 2007, and 2013 and 2017 under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
