Speaking to thousands of volunteers who gathered at State House, Nairobi, for the 91st annual inspection parade of the St John Ambulance, Uhuru said he is impressed with the excellent work of the organisation.

During the event, President Kenyatta gave a personal donation of Sh10 million as a token of appreciation.

He urged the organisation to continue with the amazing work of changing people’s lives.

The event was also attended by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, who has been on the forefront in charity projects through the Beyond Zero campaign.

“I am pleased to note every year you train 18,000 Kenyans, including boda boda operators, on emergency rescue measures,” Uhuru said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

President Kenyatta noted that he is saddened by the increased cases of accidents on Kenyan roads, and promised to put in place more measures to curb the same, before he retires from office.

The president's token to the group comes amid calls to cap church donations at Sh100,000 in a bid to reduce cases of graft.
