Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i on Sunday toured Keumbu market where he interacted with small scale traders.
The lawmaker challenged traders to continue expanding their businesses for the sake of earning more income hence boost living standards.
"Women operating as traders should wake up early to the market to sell but, not entertaining their men in bed. Women should leave bed early to control birth rates," said the lawmaker amid cheers from the crowd.
He also urged traders to form groups organization, apply for Uwezo Fund so that they can be supported.
"Traders need to apply for loans such as Uwezo which will help them in expanding their businesses for more profits. I'm urging traders to consider joining existing groups or form new groups to apply for the loans," he stated.
Tong'i warned tax collectors against harassing traders saying no trader should be harassed to pay tax.
"Every trader knows he or she should pay tax to the government. There is no need for tax collectors to harass traders around when they don't have money to pay tax. Traders should be taken slowly," he added.
