Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has mourned the death of former Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) chair Ms Jane Kiano.
Kabogo eulogised Kiano as a great lady, noting that the legacy she left behind will live on.
Kiano succumbed to lung cancer on Thursday night while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Kiano, who died at the age of 74, served as the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation chair between 1971-1984.
Before her death, she was serving alongside President Uhuru’s mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta as patrons at the organisation.
She also served as a commissioner at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, a body that was formed to oversee peace within the country after the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
She will be remembered as a woman who inspired young women and girls across the country.
Other leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have also mourned her passing.
