The leaders have pledged to work with former Vice President as he seeks to ascend to power.

Leaders have said that Kalonzo has what it takes to lead this nation to prosperity if given the mandate to take over the leadership.

The leaders include Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai Kibwezi MP Patrick Musimba, former MPs Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni), Kalembe Ndile (Kibwezi), and Philip Kaloki (Kibwezi).

Other leaders are Francis Mutuku (former Makueni Majority Leader) and Stephen Ngelu (former Makueni Assembly Speaker).

Prof Kaloki, who spoke during a burial in Makindu, said that they decided to rally behind the Kamba political kingpin because he has proven that he has what it takes to rule. He noted that Kalonzo has been impartial in his political career.

He also said that the region has benefitted since he agreed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We have decided to work with Musyoka because he is working with President Kenyatta. Their close working relationship has created cohesion in the country, including Ukambani, which has benefited from appointments in government agencies and development projects such as the ongoing Sh62 billion Thwake Dam and Konza City project,” he said, as quoted Daily Nation.

Munyao and Mbai echoed the sentiments of the lawmaker.  Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana remains a thorn in the flesh of Kalonzo as he plots to walk to State House.

Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader Alfred Mutua has also been giving Kalonzo a hard time in Ukambani since he declared his interest in the race to succeed President Kenyatta.
