Nyamira Assembly Speaker Moffat Teya on Thursday denied claims he had been summoned by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for grilling.
For the better part of Wednesday, a number of social media users claimed the speaker had been holed up at Integrity Center for questioning.
Some claimed top constitutional lawyer Nyambega Mose had arrived at the Commission's headquarters to defend him.
Speaking on Thursday, Teya told reporters that he was in Nairobi for the County Assemblies Forum which brings together all county assembly leaders.
"I think there is someone waiting for me to fall. I have never been to EACC and I don't expect to be there either way," he said.
"Infact, I attended a CAF meeting and left late. Records can easily be obtained by this. I don't know why some people want me at EACC," he added.
There have been claims that Teya has been under EACC surveillance for long now over the Sh379 million new assembly building.
Also, the controversy surrounding acquisition of the insurance firm for workers has been another process which is reportedly under active investigations.
Previously, EACC officers visited the building but they gave it's construction a clean bill of health after investigations.
