There was drama earlier on Saturday morning when former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was forced to climb the Kenyatta University Mortuary gate to calm down John De'Mathew's fans.
In a video posted on YouTube, the crowd had gathered outside the facility to pay its last respect to the Kikuyu Benga musician.
Kabogo had to assure them that they will be given time to pay their last respect to the late.
It took time to control the crowd but after two hours, the body was taken to Githambia Primary School in Murang’a for the last funeral service.
During the burial ceremony, De'Mathew was hailed as a great family man. His children described him as an outstanding father.
“Thank you for showing us what it means to be a good man, a great musician, an extraordinary husband, and an outstanding father,” DeMathew’s children described him as quoted by the Standard.
On their part, his wives said he was a supportive husband who gave them a dream life. The two wives were full of praise for the fallen musician.
Several leaders were present including former Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe, Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
Cabinet Secretaries present included James Macharia (Transport), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture).
