The universities are also expected to begin admitting freshers, with the process likely to go on until the end of the week.

Here are five types of freshers you are likely to meet at the university.

1. Mum’s kid

Yes, there are some freshers who have never been away from their mothers since primary school. Such freshers are used to an 'easy life' and they have a hard time adapting to campus life.

2. The ex-head boy/head girl

These are the type who were leaders/ prefects back in high schools. They come to campus with their leadership mentality and they can be easily spotted as they always try to control their fellow freshers.

3. Foreigners

These are students from other countries who choose to study in Kenya. In some universities, they are usually allocated their own rooms to ensure they are not troubled by other rowdy students.

4. The posh freshers

Posh freshers are students who come from rich families. The majority of them attended high-end high schools around the country. They usually don't understand the Kenyan urban language, sheng, which is used by most students.

5. Unprepared ones

This lot consists of freshers we can refer to as the 'confused' ones. They are always caught unaware by most school activities. They also take a lot of time before mastering the school routes and where their classes are.
