Police in Samburu County are investigating an incident where a man allegedly shot dead a 19 year old boy over claims of having an affair with his wife.
The alleged killer is said to have traced the deceased to the grazing fields in Ngilai village and opened fire on him, according to witnesses.
The incident was confirmed by area Chief William Leruk.
The administrator said that the deceased also confirmed that the man, who is well known in the village, killed him.
A similar confession was given by a witness who was nearby at the time of the shooting.
"The deceased, before taking his last breath, also disclosed that it was the suspect who shot him," the chief told the Standard, adding that a probe has been launched.
Villagers said that the man had initially complained about an ongoing relationship between his wife and the deceased, and urged elders to summon him over the issue.
They said that the accused had also vowed to kill the woman and later commit suicide after murdering the deceased. The woman has since fled their home for his parent's house.
The body is being preserved at the Samburu Referral Hospital Mortuary in Marallal Town.
