Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has reiterated claims from a section of the ruling Jubilee Party leaders that opposition leader Raila Odinga is keen on destroying the party.
The former Prime Minister has been placed on the spotlight by a group of lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto over allegations of trying to paralyze the block.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Senator claimed that Raila is cleverly plotting the same, and has since acquired the help of some insiders to help him with the job.
He claimed that Odinga is the force behind the noises emanating from a rival faction of Jubilee which has been castigating and bashing the DP on a weekly basis.
"Raila is very sharp, he has picked a few disgruntled members of the party led by Maina Kamanda to help him with the job. They have also been joined by some of his MPs," he claimed.
He was speaking in an interview on Citizen TVs News Night on Tuesday evening.
However, the lawmaker noted that Raila will not succeed in his plans, saying that the the DP's brigade has detected his moves and is working on preventing it.
"They are working on his conditions. He has always been known for confusion and deceit whenever he goes. However, he should know that we are watching him," he added.
Kamanda, a nominated MP, has been leading a group of Central Kenya MPs including Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri) and Isaac Mwaura (nominated senator) in bashing the DP.
The discomfort emanates from Raila's truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta last year, after which Uhuru and Ruto have apparently been growing more distant.
But Raila has repeatedly rubbished the allegations, insisting that he is solely with the president for a better nation and not political intentions.
